This page has additional information about my residency in Girgarre. The WHAT, WHO, HOW and WHEN of JUNKESTRA can be found HERE
WHAT HAPPENED LAST YEAR?
This is my second residency in Girgarre - last year we:
WHAT IS HAPPENING THIS YEAR?
Our focus this year is to create the JUNKESTRA with towns people and their neighbours and write a composition that captures the spirit of the Girgarre Revival, to be performed at the first ever concert at the Sound Shell on April 14. Everyone is welcome to participate in this.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
During my ten-week residency I am running lots of practice sessions. Each week there is really only one session plan (with some variations as the week progresses and the material develops) but I run it several times on different days so that people can make it along to one of them. We are in the process of scheduling bigger, combined sessions for weeks FIVE, SIX and SEVEN. The composition process is well under way and the material we are practicing will now all be used in the piece. If you are planning to join and have not been yet it would be advisable to get yourself along this week so that you can catch up and feel familiar with the materials that we are all now practising.
WHO CAN PARTICIPATE?
Anyone and everyone is welcome to give it a go. The more people we have in JUNKESTRA the stronger it will represent the true local spirit, however you should join ASAP and come to as many rehearsals as you can as the group has already made quite a lot of progress since we started three weeks ago,
CAN I GET INVOLVED IN SOME OTHER WAY?
Yes. There will be lots of other ways you can participate in the event - perhaps as a stage manager, or helping rig lights and sound, or some other production role. If you're interested in this please let me know.
